The Mayer Co. Policy on Health, Safety and the Environment (HSE)

Mayer Cars and Trucks Co. Ltd. is committed to adapting its characteristics and activities to accommodate the principles of quality, occupational health and safety and its effects on the environment. The Mayer Co. is committed to compliance with all legal requirements as expressed in the laws and regulation of the State of Israel in such a way as to achieve all these and to accomplish high standards in these areas. The Mayer Co. regards management of its health and safety and environmental protection to be its way of life. The vision is to create a safe, healthy working environment for the Company employees and its customers, suppliers, and anyone within its premises.

The Safety policy is an integral part of the Mayer Co. strategy. It includes the following elements:

  1.  The Mayer Co. Management considers itself committed to working toward strict observance and fulfillment of the requirements of the laws, regulations, ordinances and professional rules related to the safety, occupational health and the environment, as these exist and are in force in the country. The Mayer Co. will take whichever administrative measures at its disposal to enforce observance of these laws by all of the Company’s managers and employees at all levels.
  2. Safety-related vigilance is a prerequisite for performing any work whatsoever within the scope of the Company’s business.
    Each manager and employee is responsible for performing and managing their respective tasks safely, prioritizing safety over outputs.
  3. Safety Management at Mayer Co. is based on a comprehensive systemic view, which is adapted to the unique circumstances of each one of the activities in order to guarantee that this issue is pursued effectively in the various departments and in the site facilities.
  4. Setting targets, indices and priorities, allocating the resources necessary to ensure a safe, hazard-free working environment, aiming for zero occupational accidents and occupational diseases, and for mitigation of the severity of safety incidents which might occur despite all the preventive measures taken, despite the risks inherent to the work processes in the different facilities, in order to prevent bodily harm.
  5.  The Mayer Co. shall work continually to manage and minimize the existing hazards within the work processes and types to an acceptable level while continually working to improve the Company’s work on matters of occupational health and safety, ensuring proper equipment and materials, proper work procedures and methods, maintaining a trained workforce with the appropriate oversight, through maintaining an emergency drills routine and plan and through continual, methodic work on investigation and learns learned from safety incidents and “near misses”.
  6. Continual, methodic investigation and lessons-learned processes shall be conducted for safety incidents and “near misses”.
  7. All the managerial levels are responsible for implementation of the Health, Safety and the Environment (HSE) policy.
    Each management level is responsible for the level below it and is accountable to the level above it.
    Each one of the managers is responsible for supervising safety in their respective areas.
  8. Managers at all levels shall be in charge of managing the safety in their zone and shall involve the employees in the performance of the safety-related activities. They shall ensure that valid, current information, which is essential to maintaining proper safety and environmental conditions are routinely communicated to the employees for their information, and that it shall be available at their disposal at all times.
  9. Each one of the employees is responsible for working safely while making use of all the safety and protective gear provided to them, to report any safety problem they encounter and to avoid any damage or abuse of any one of the items provided or installed for ensuring their health and safety.
  10. The success of the health, occupational safety and environmental policy relies on the complete commitment and full cooperation of all the Company’s employees and managers.
  11. Management shall allocate the time, resources and efforts required for effective execution of the policy.
  12. The employees shall be informed of the safety instructions and procedures through training and notices.
  13.  Reviews shall be held consistently to identify hazards.
  14. Safety and environmental considerations shall be included in all of the work processes, the tenders, quotations and proposals and in any other work which will be carried out within the Mayer Co. facilities.
